Shocking: Girl Who Has “Empowered Women Empower Women” in Her Bio Is Actually a Raging Bitch

This week, some of our writers were tasked with spotlighting positive women leaders in the FSU community to spread support among our female peers. Searching through social media, we stumbled across junior nursing major Rachel Yates’ instagram to find the inspiring Mary Shelly quote “Empowered Women Empower Women” listed in her bio. We reached out to Yates to tell us what that quote meant to her, and how she upholds it through encouraging the women in her community.

“I feel like girls always, like, compete with one another. I’m like, ‘cut that out ladies, we’re all in this together!’ and I live by that. We need to look out for one another, and I always make sure to look out for the quiet girl,” Yates stated, loudly. “I’m a total mom friend, I really am content with just giving and not receiving as long as I make someone’s life a little bit easier.” Upon receiving these woke words of wisdom, we found some local women who had a few things to say about Rachel.

We met with her high school classmate, Sophie Hernandez, to tell us how Yates had a positive impact on her. “Uh yeah, that girl told me I should kill myself in high school,” said Hernandez immediately when asked about Rachel’s positive influence on the women around her. “Her boyfriend was in the same group as me for a project, so I sent him the presentation. Next thing I know she facetimes me from his phone calling me a slut, suggesting I should ‘throw myself out my window so that my ugly head splits in two on the concrete.’ That’s Rachel. The other day I was behind her in line at Starbucks and watched her cuss out the barista for forgetting the fourth extra pump of vanilla in her latte. When the girl kindly asked her to pull up her mask, she ripped it off and coughed on her.”

When these statements were brought up to Yates, she gave a forced laugh paired with a painfully wide smile before responding, “Clearly she’s a jealous hater, She’s really setting a bad example for girl power by attacking me, y’know? Like, why do people have to be so hateful?” Shortly after, Yates demanded we take a photo of her under the Rosie Riveter mural outside Catalina Cafe. When asked if she knew who Mary Shelly was, she quickly denied to comment.
