Critics Agree: RBG Cliff-Hanger Way Too Much for Season 1
Welp, we’ve had murder hornets, a pandemic, gender reveal-induced fires, floods, alien life, and flying snakes, but none have shocked the nation like the death of centuries-old and beloved Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. While the environment seeking vengeance against the parasite that is the human race advanced the plot towards mass extinction; critics are shocked that the impending crumble of American Democracy was folded into the shit show that is the first season of 2020.
Claire Masterson, a lover of all things Netflix and Justice, has a lot to say about the first season of 2020. “This show is like when I got drunk, took a shit in my ex-boyfriend’s dryer and put it on tumble dry. It makes ‘Shutter Island’ look like the fun, bro-y version of ‘Mamma Mia.’ The plot was already crazy--I mean, aliens and a pandemic in one season? But then they killed off Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and it was just too much. What are they going to do next season? Bring back the dinosaurs? Prove ‘The Simpsons’ are actually running the simulation? Honestly, this show is so fucking crazy that nothing can surprise me anymore. The characters are so unlikeable; they have killed off all the people who I actually cared about. I’m getting some real last season of ‘Game of Thrones’ vibes. Everybody’s gonna end up dead, and the people left in power are going to be really fucking disappointing.”
Not everyone is so unhappy with the latest plot twist. Chad Ryerson, a passionate supporter of all things oppressive, is more invested in the show than ever. “When they killed off RBG, I couldn’t believe it. They are exposing so many of her character flaws. Like, if she really cared about her legacy, then she would’ve retired when Barack Obama was president. Or, chosen a job a little more her pace. I can’t wait to see who they strip rights from next. This show is utter chaos; who knew God was the next Shonda Rhimes? Like, the villains in this season are unreal. I really hope they give that Donald guy another season. He deserves it; he’s so close to imploding all of American Democracy! I’d love to see the show take a fascist turn.”
As we’re waiting for the Rotten Tomatoes review of this season, remember that no matter how crazy things get, RBG would want us to fight back. It’s not a democracy if one 87-year-old can die and cause millions of people to fret over the seemingly inevitable loss of their rights. The plot will thicken once we see what demonic foil will take her seat in the next season. Sources say show writers have their eyes on an extra antiquated character who will bring a ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ feel to the plot.
