Depop Girls Selling Housing Fair T-Shirts, Described As “Vintage, Y2K”

It’s that time of the year again. Everyone is starting to scramble to secure housing for Fall 2021, but some are profiting off of the struggle more than others. Depop girls are out on campus in full force for the housing fair, leaving as many email addresses and taking as many t-shirts as they can. But they won’t be using the shirts for morning-after-hookup-coverage like normal people. Instead, they will list the CustomInk marketing scheme shirts on Depop for innocent buyers to prey on. The description, you ask? “Vintage, Y2K college tee.”

“Haven’t you ever heard of a side hustle?” asked Erica Luxx, a campus Depop ambassador, while tossing a Clutch Magazine tote bag over her shoulder. “It’s not any different than having an on-campus job or making resin art on Etsy or something. Instead of some Pike dude wearing this Stadium Enclave shirt with a pair of khaki shorts, an adorable Y2K indie hello kitty Brandy Melville girl will pair it with some super cute deadstock espadrilles. It’s also so eco-friendly. We’re all about sustainability at Depop, and thrifting is good for the environment. Recycling old clothes that would instead go into a landfill is just totally in right now. Oh, my shirt? It’s from Shein!”

“Yeah, it’s definitely sustainable, but if you have to scam a 14-year-old into buying your overpriced clothes, there might be an issue,” noted Thrift Club president Eli Roberts. “Depop is cancer sometimes. Most sellers will just get holographic shipping envelopes and include animal stickers in your package so you don’t feel like you got scammed. You can spot one of those bitches at the Goodwill on Pensacola from a mile away. They rip through the outlet bins like someone hid a Squishmallow in there. It’s pretty barbaric. One time, I saw two indie girls fight over a pair of Steve Madden platform sandals and one of them bit the other one. I haven’t been back since.”

You should always be wary of things you buy online, but especially if you buy them from a Depop seller. Some best practices for Depop purchases are to always make sure you have pictures from all angles, always try to get free shipping, and always ensure the seller harasses you before purchase so you know the item is authentic. And remember, folks, if you see any Depop girls on campus, you are legally allowed to punch them in the face. Happy thrifting!
