There are a lot of options when it comes to eating on FSU campus: waiting 20 minutes for a Chick-fil-a sandwich, getting day-old sushi, or taking a chance on whatever’s in Suwannee. However, there is another option that often goes underutilized: getting a meal plan from Vale Food Co. With prices as low as $1192 per semester, you can have as many acai bowls and avocado toasts as you want (as long as you want 105 meal swipes.) Unfortunately, this healthy lifestyle option has led to some unwanted bullying for those who prefer a more traditional dining experience.

“As soon as I walked in, it was awkward. I opened the door and the employee was like ‘the Dairy Queen is across the street! I was just trying to start a healthy lifestyle so I went to the counter and ordered a protein bowl,” said sophomore and Planet Fitness member Jennifer Morales. “I guess they’re used to their regulars with meal plans and I threw them off because I’m not wearing a sports bra and Air Force 1’s. They also gave me a large without asking what size I wanted. When I sat down, a girl passed by me and said ‘I’m so proud of you. Obesity is the real pandemic.’”

FSU sorority queen Stephanie Davis is one of the Florida State students who has a meal plan with Vale Food Co. She goes there three times a day, everyday in order to maintain a size 00, or size 14 in Lululemon leggings. “Every once in a while, there is some fatty trying to make some big life change and holding up the line because they have to log all the ingredients in their bowl into MyFitnessPal. I think they’re really brave to fix their condition, but do they have to do it in front of me? It’s like, I’m trying to eat!”

Who knew that the most toxic place in Tallahassee wasn’t the Recess pool, but a health food restaurant? Turns out, most girls already did. So next time you think about making an FSU waffle or getting a Chick-fil-a deluxe meal, think about getting in your car (or walking) to your local Vale and buying a meal plan. What were you going to do with that extra $2000 lying around anyway--get a chicken tender sub?
